Why we created this
While building FancyHerHair Extensions, I trained as a nurse. My background is in nursing, biology, and chemistry, so I understand what treatment asks of your body, and how much losing your hair can take from you, even when everyone says it's "just hair."
I created our cranial prosthesis service to bring two worlds together: a clinical understanding of what you're going through, and the luxury, confidence, and sisterhood FancyHerHair is known for. When you sit in my chair, you're not a chart. You're a woman getting her crown back.

Questions we hear often
What is a cranial prosthesis?
It's the medical term for a custom hair piece made for someone with hair loss from a medical condition or treatment. Insurance companies use this term, so it matters when you file a claim.
Will my insurance cover it?
It depends on your plan. Call your insurer and ask about "cranial prosthesis" benefits. We provide the receipt and billing codes; you submit the claim directly for possible reimbursement.
Do I need a prescription?
Most insurance plans require one. Ask your oncologist or doctor for a prescription for a "cranial prosthesis."
Do you accept Medicare?
Not at this time. We work with clients paying directly and those submitting to private insurance.
When should I come in?
Ideally before hair loss begins, so we can match your natural color, texture, and style. But we'll meet you wherever you are, during or after treatment too.
Is it comfortable on a sensitive scalp?
Yes. We offer glueless, HD lace options and fit each cap to your measurements, so there's no adhesive and no pinching.
Is my appointment private?
Always. Consultations and fittings happen one-on-one, by appointment, away from the retail floor.
